Electrolysis studio · Georgetown, TX
Hair removal you finish, not repeat
Electrolysis is the only method the FDA recognizes as permanent hair removal — for every skin tone, every hair color, and every hormone story. Wurayo is a private, one-client-at-a-time studio in Georgetown, Texas.

Who this is for
Every hair type, every skin tone, every reason
Hormonal growth, hair that laser cannot see, sensitive or ingrown-prone skin, gender-affirming clearance, or simply being finished with the razor. Find the situation closest to yours.
Why electrolysis
Why is electrolysis the only permanent method?
A fine sterile probe is placed into each follicle and a precise current permanently disables its ability to grow hair. Because it targets the follicle rather than pigment, it works on every hair color and every skin tone — including grey, blonde, red, and fine hair that laser cannot see.
| Electrolysis | Laser | |
|---|---|---|
| FDA status | Permanent hair removal | Permanent hair reduction |
| Hair color | Every color, including grey, blonde, red | Dark hair only |
| Skin tone | Fitzpatrick I–VI | Best on lighter skin tones |
Safe across every Fitzpatrick skin type — electrolysis never targets pigment.

The person treating you
Wura means gold
Wurayo (Wu-rah-yoh) comes from Yoruba. Wura means gold — something precious. Yo, from Ayo, means joy.
I’m Toyosi Makinwa, a trained and licensed electrologist. After fourteen years in beauty and wellness, I kept meeting people who had spent years and thousands of dollars on hair removal that did not last. Electrolysis was the only method I found that actually ends it, so I trained in it properly — galvanic, thermolysis, and blend technique, sterile single-use practice, and skin and hair physiology — and I keep training as the work evolves.
Every appointment at Wurayo is treated by me, from the first consultation to the last hair.
Comfort
What it actually feels like
Each follicle is treated for a fraction of a second. Most people describe a brief warmth or a pinprick — noticeable, over quickly, and usually milder than they had braced for. It is not the same sensation as waxing, and nothing is pulled.
Sensitivity is not constant. The upper lip and bikini line are more tender than the chin or legs, skin is more reactive in the week before a period, and caffeine on the day makes everything feel sharper. Knowing this in advance is half the comfort.
An over-the-counter numbing cream applied about 30 minutes before your appointment takes most of the edge off, and we can adjust intensity or pause at any point. Afterwards, expect mild redness and small bumps for a few hours — written aftercare goes home with you.
Pricing
What will this cost?
Electrolysis is billed by time, not by area. The time you need depends on hair density, coarseness, hormones, medication, and how the area has been treated before, so there is no honest flat price by area — and no honest total until we have seen how your hair responds.
Your consultation is $55 and includes treatment, not just conversation. I assess the area, treat part of it, and give you an estimate of where your plan is likely to land. We then review progress and pacing together every three sessions and adjust from there.

Every visit
What the appointment is like

Your first visit ends with a written plan built around your hair growth, your goals, and your timeline — reviewed together every three sessions.
You’ll know what’s happening
How the current works, why hair returns in cycles, and what each stage of your plan is doing. Informed clients make better decisions about their own time and money.

The questions I hear most
- Does it hurt?
- Most people describe a brief warmth or pinprick at each follicle — noticeable, over quickly, and usually milder than the anticipation. Sensitivity varies with the area, the time of your cycle, and how much caffeine you have had that day. An over-the-counter numbing cream applied about 30 minutes before your visit takes most of the edge off, and we can pause any time.
- What does the first year look like?
- Most full-clearance plans run 12 to 18 months, with visits that start frequent and space out as growth thins. Many people see visible softening within the first few sessions, long before the plan is finished. Your pacing is written down at your consultation and reviewed every three sessions.
- Is electrolysis safe for my skin tone?
- Yes. Electrolysis treats the follicle directly rather than relying on pigment contrast, so it is safe and effective across all Fitzpatrick skin types, including deep and melanin-rich skin that laser often cannot serve.
- What happens at the first appointment?
- A consultation and first treatment together, $55. I look at the area and your hair growth, talk through your history and goals, write down a plan, and then treat part of the area so you know exactly how it feels before committing to anything.
